Perfectly Flawed

It isn’t so much that you can’t know their names, I just like the tiny bit of deniability this allows …

Aiden – Aiden is one of my closest friends. We’ve known each other for many years and we dated for three. I broke up with him in March 2008. I think we’ve finally both moved on.  Maybe.

B – B is my former friend, former roommate, and former effective literary foil. She personifies casual sex and several things I dislike about myself. She is arrogant and quite emotionally messy.

Wren – Wren is probably my best friend in this city. She is wicked smart and beautiful.  She spends a lot of time with her boyfriend.

Cage – Cage is another one of my best friends. She is silly and lovely and entirely endearing.  I was a bridesmaid in her wedding!

Key – Cage’s husband and a very funny guy.  Close friends with Nick and Dan.

Mill – Mill is my former roommate and former best friend. She is naive and seems to have commitment and intimacy issues. Her inability to maintain friendships and healthy relationships has caused her to fall out of favor.

James – James is Mill’s ex boyfriend.  I like James and enjoy his company.  We used to hang out and go to brewery tours together.  He’s in the peace corp now.

Nick – Nickel was the focus of my affections for quite some time.  He is best friends with James.  Nick was also in Key and Cage’s wedding.  We’ve gotten naked together on several occasions.  We’re back to pretending we’re friends and that nothing has happened.  None of our mutual friends know.

Alex – I met Alex in January.  My colleague from Oregon thought we would go well together.  That was for the most part true.  We went on a few dates but things fizzled when his ex became jealous and possessive.  After that issue was resolved he pursued me and we spent some time together.  Things fizzled again when he realized I would never give him anything more and that I wouldn’t be his girlfriend.

Dan – Dan is a very high energy member of our group of a dozen close friends.  He’s on here because he seems to be causing some interesting plot twists in my relationship with Nick and previously Mike.  He isn’t integral to the story but does occasionally move it forward.  He can do a killer magic trick and is very competitive.  He’s currently teaching at a high school in a small town a few hours from where I live.

Yukon – We have been friends since childhood.  We spend our time talking about men in coffee houses and libraries.  He is in grad school to become a librarian.  I adore him because we both love fiction and graphic novels.  Our friendship has only gotten stronger as the years go on.  He is a bit mischievous.
